Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce's June Net Night, hosted by CST Group, CPAs, P.C. While the event was originally planned for their beautiful rooftop, Mother Nature had other plans. Thanks to the rain, we moved indoors—but the energy, conversations, and connections were just as strong.
The Joy of Networking
One of my favorite parts of networking events is getting to know the people behind the businesses. Throughout the evening, I had the opportunity to meet professionals from various companies in the Reston community. Instead of simply talking about business, I enjoyed learning about their "why." What brought them to their careers? What keeps them excited about their work? What motivates them to show up every day?
Those conversations reminded me that every business is built on people with passion, purpose, and a desire to make a difference.
Building Relationships
It was also wonderful to connect with clients I'm beginning to work with, as well as others I've had the pleasure of continuing to support. Seeing them engage with fellow community members, share their stories, and build relationships of their own was incredibly rewarding. Moments like these remind me why I love helping businesses tell their stories and strengthen their presence within our community.
Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone
As a business owner, promoting my own company doesn't always come naturally. Stepping outside my comfort zone can be challenging. However, events like Net Night remind me how important it is to show up, start conversations, and share what I do. The support and encouragement found within the Reston business community make those steps feel a little easier and a lot more meaningful.
The Power of Design
One unexpected highlight of the evening was sharing my new CAT Creative Solutions business card. As someone who spends most of my time helping others tell their stories, it felt rewarding to confidently share my own. Seeing people scan the QR code, ask questions about my services, and connect with my brand was a reminder that great design isn't just about looking professional—it's about creating opportunities for meaningful conversations.
A Heartfelt Thank You
I would especially like to thank Courtney Bulger and Angela Inzerillo of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. They invited me to attend the event, and over the past several months, they have been incredibly supportive of my business. Whether it's making introductions, creating connections, or encouraging local businesses to succeed, they consistently go above and beyond for the Reston community. Their commitment to building connections and supporting local businesses is exactly what makes this community so special. I am thankful for their support and for the role they play in bringing people together and helping our local business community thrive.
Conclusion: Embracing Community and Connection
Here's to community, connection, and having the courage to step outside our comfort zones and be heard. Together, we can elevate our brands, grow our online presence, and achieve measurable marketing success through a blend of creative design and smart, data-driven strategies.
Let’s keep the conversations going and continue to support one another in this vibrant community!
