Elevating Community Connections: The Success of Boo at the Zoo

Updated: Nov 11, 2025

At CAT Creative Services, I specialize in bringing ideas to life through thoughtful design, marketing, and event planning. From branding and outreach to creative coordination, I love helping organizations connect with their communities in meaningful and memorable ways. This fall, I had the opportunity to put all those skills to work for something truly special — the first-ever Boo at the Zoo at NOVA Wild!

Boo at the Zoo

When Creativity Meets Community

This October, I had the chance to plan, design, and coordinate the inaugural Boo at the Zoo — a family-friendly Halloween celebration filled with trunk-or-treat fun, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, and local treats. Thanks to an incredible team effort and strong community support, the event completely sold out!

From Concept to Sold-Out Success

As the first event of its kind at NOVA Wild, every detail needed careful thought — from the branding and marketing design to logistics, coordination, and community partnerships. Through CAT Creative Services, I managed the event’s creative direction and promotions, helping to build excitement and awareness leading up to the big night.

I promoted the event where local families and communities look for things to do — blogs, family event calendars, and online feeds. Combined with strong social media promotion and a series of targeted email campaigns, the event’s reach grew quickly. Each email shared updates, reminders, and fun details to keep families engaged and eager to attend.

Before long, Boo at the Zoo sold out, and it was clear that the blend of thoughtful design, consistent communication, and community energy made a huge impact.

The Power of Design and Planning

Great design isn’t just about visuals — it’s about crafting an experience. From colorful event graphics and signage to coordinated branding across social posts and emails, every touchpoint worked together to tell a story and invite people in.

Careful planning and clear communication helped ensure everything ran smoothly — from vendor coordination and parking logistics to contests and activities. The result? A fun, family-friendly event that looked great, felt welcoming, and ran seamlessly.

Community at the Heart

One of the best parts of Boo at the Zoo was seeing how local families and businesses came together. The trunks were wonderfully creative, each with its own theme and flair. Vendors added extra excitement with food, crafts, and activities — creating a true community celebration.

It was a wonderful reminder that when you combine great design, a fantastic location, and a supportive community, anything is possible.

Boo at the Zoo was such a success that we’re already planning to bring it back next year — even bigger and better!
